Speaker & Moderator

Frankly speaking...

Magdalena brings a grounded, deeply committed approach to her work as a speaker and moderator. With a background as a global executive overseeing sales and supply chains for a leading seafood company, she understands the complexities of ethical business from the inside out. Whether collaborating with business leaders, guiding philanthropic initiatives, or championing rural skill training, Magdalena’s focus is on fostering high standards and practical solutions in for-profit and non-profit endeavors.

Her journey has taken her from classrooms to boardrooms across the globe, from restoring abandoned properties to engaging in agri- and aquaculture tech, always with a strong belief: real progress happens when we combine integrity with action. She consistently (and very directly) shares a thoughtful, principled, and pragmatic approach to both evaluating and creating impact.

On Non Profits

“I had lost faith in non-profits for a time. And indeed, there are many who are underperforming and they must be held accountable –not indulged. Indulging them is the most condescending thing we can do.”

“Non profits are one of the three sectors that we need to solve problems. The other two are government and for profits. Recognizing this has given me renewed delight in support non profits. Apart from my work at the Gottlieb Naef Foundation, I enjoy speaking at non profit fundraisers, and supporting directors with providing insights to donors about what happens ‘on the ground’ from the perspective of someone who has lived and worked in developing countries.”

“I find that the young among us are often the most willing to discuss. We need to include them in in-person, cross-generational conversation. My recent guest lectures have focused on the ethics of technology and artificial intelligence, both in universities, including PhD level, and secondary schools. And each time, the students have shown such an active wish to discuss in person.”

On For Profit

“Of the three [for profit, non profit, government] I still think that a thriving business that gives employees fair and stable and honoring wages. …a business that sees itself as an integral part of a place and people, with leadership that keeps a vision alive… makes the best contribution. The agility of the private sector gives the sector tremendous problem solving potential –potential that is only actualized if there’s a will to do so.”

“Moderating business conferences is highly enjoyable for me, because even after preparing thoroughly, the real spark is in the actual interactions on stage between business leaders, investors, regulators, etc. …Everyone engaging fully for the value to emerge.”
